WHY THIS MATTERS

Brain Injury: The Global Health Crisis Hiding in Plain Sight

Every year, millions of people worldwide sustain traumatic brain injuries. For many, including athletes, Veterans, children, accident survivors, and the elderly, the effects are life-altering. Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) remains undiagnosable in living patients. Rehabilitation tools are limited. The gap between what is being explored in the lab and what reaches patients is measured in decades.

The Donner Neuroscience Tech Collective exists to close that gap by teaching students from a young age how to build solutions and connecting emerging research with the communities that need breakthroughs the most.

Diagnosis Gap

CTE can only be confirmed post-mortem. New biomarkers and diagnostic tools are needed urgently to advance treatment.

Treatment Gap

Neurorehabilitation technologies exist in labs but rarely reach the patients who need them.

Innovation Gap

Students aren’t taught how to build solutions effectively and neurotech startups struggle to connect with clinical researchers, funding, and real-world validation.
